Norwegian – Recurrent Training for Cabin Crew

Customer: Norwegian Air Shuttle, Norway
Norwegian is the third largest low-cost carrier in Europe and flew 24 million passengers in 2014. Norwegian has approximately 4,500 employees with operational bases throughout in Europe, the US and Asia.

SCOPE: To improve, modernize and create future cost savings in cabin crew training through the development of an online pre-course, as well as recurrent training based on a virtual 360° cabin interior. The course includes modules on the location and use of emergency equipment and the operative management of first aid and emergency procedures.

SOLUTION: The result was an online virtual learning course based on a 360˚ fully navigable cabin interior walk-around. Cabin crew can freely explore the virtual environment in a learning mode or be led through different scenarios prompted by the software.
Unlike traditional e-learning, this training requires a high level of user activity which provides meaningful transfer and retention of knowledge. The user is left to learn, review and explore scenarios or environments at their own pace, while providing an appropriate level of challenge and intrinsic feedback on the users’ performance via the software’s test mode.

All course material (text, question bank, images, videos, missions etc) can in real time be edited by the training department at Norwegian using our online editing tool, the e360 EDITOR.

The solution is integrated with Norwegian’s LMS and enables the airline to:

  • Free-up time for practical hands-on training and qualitative discussions
  • Remove stress related to the mandatory annual recurrent exam
  • Reduce and automate administration, i.e. feedback, documentation, etc
